Melissa Kendall: Transforming Education

Joining our host, former BBC presenter Jemma Cooper on April 17, Melissa Kendall spoke to us about transforming education at General Assembly Meeting #85 and answered questions from our live audience.

Who is Melissa Kendall?

  • Melissa Kendall is a pioneer in alternative education in the UK.
  • She is the Founder and former Director of Lumiar Stowford School, an independent primary school near the city of Bath.
  • Melissa is currently Managing Director of Griffin Club, a community-led education initiative empowering young people to learn from real-world experience and personal mentorship.
  • She believes that much of the current education system is too narrowly focused on exams and external affirmation and that young people need to be given space and freedom to make mistakes, be creative and follow their own interests.
