Hugh McCarthy: What Have We Done to Our Children?
Joining us live from the United Kingdom on Monday, May 15, 2023 at General Assembly Meeting #89, Hugh McCarthy spoke with former BBC presenter Jemma Cooper about what has happened to education the last three years and how we can protect the minds of the youth.
Who is Hugh McCarthy?
- A former headteacher, Hugh McCarthy had a career in mainstream education in Northern Ireland spanning more than 50 years. He was post primary principal and lecturer in leadership at Ulster University.
- Hugh is deeply concerned about the effect the last three years has had on young people and has written a series of globally acclaimed articles and essays called “What are we doing to our children?“.
- He is a member of PanData and Collateral Global.
- Hugh McCarthy holds a Masters degree in Education Management, an Honours degree in Chemistry and a BA in Public Administration.
- Until recently, Hugh was a Director of two Northern Ireland education councils.
