On Monday, April 17, 2023 we heard from Kim Isherwood, Lou Collins, and Melissa Kendall at WCH General Assembly Meeting #85.

Kim Isherwood: Child Protection

  • Kim Isherwood is Chair of Public Child Protection Wales (PCP Wales), a parent-led, not for profit organisation, concerned at the way national and local Governments have failed children in safeguarding and education.
  • She holds a degree in Criminology and Social Policy and a masters degree in Criminology and is a fully accredited Relationship & Sexuality Education teacher trainer doing a post grad in Applied Criminal Justice and Criminology.

Lou Collins: Child Safety

  • Lou Collins is a mum, radio presenter, former TV presenter, podcaster and host of Liberty Tactics. She is a passionate advocate for child safety and was one of the first women in the UK to start broadcasting the truth about institutional child abuse.
  • She has organised a mammoth podcast-athon in Wales on April 29 to raise money for PCP Wales court costs. The 36-hour event will feature a host of celebrities and activists, all of whom will be raising awareness of PCP Wales campaign.

Melissa Kendall: Transforming Education

  • Melissa Kendall is a pioneer in alternative education in the UK. Founder and former Director of Lumiar Stowford School, she is currently Managing Director of a new education project, Griffin Club. This is a community-led education initiative empowering young people to learn from real-world experience and personal mentorship.
  • She believes the current education system is too narrowly focused on exams and external affirmation and that young people need to be given space and freedom to make mistakes, be creative, and follow their own interests.
