Job Description:
The World Council for Health is looking for a dynamic, positive, and experienced Website Developer & Designer. This role would involve maintaining key websites for WCH, BiRD, EbMCsquared and Source. This is a multi-faceted and at time pressurised project and as such would need to be taken on by someone who is driven, committed to the cause and has fine attention to detail. The Websites that are the most active and updated are WCH and Source (the latter is yet to be launched). All our websites are WordPress sites.

You will ideally be experienced in Website Development, Website Security and Content Optimization. Everyone that works with WCH has to be a ‘captain and a soldier’ i.e. willing to pick up the work where the gaps are and when deadlines need to be met. Flexibility is needed as our online events are at varying and sometimes unsociable hours, and we will need tech support for these.

The ideal candidate would be grounded with the ability to get tasks done quickly and a can-do attitude. Having good boundaries is a must. You will be working closely with the WCH Manager, Director, Content Manager and Translation Co-ordinator. Ideally you will have some branding knowledge and be able to help steer the sites in the direction they need to go.

EbMCsquared is a community interest, non-profit start-up organization that is funded by grassroots donations. Since launching, our achievements have been profoundly impactful on a global scale, and it is imperative that we keep the same momentum as we grow. The WCH is in the process of decentralisation, so this role is key to the success of that. You will have the opportunity to contribute to real change in the world and to people’s lives with this role. 

The role includes but is not limited to:

  • Developing the website – Making key improvements to the site to help improve useability and accessibility.
  • Maintaining the website – Uploading key content each week, videos, articles and statements as well as any new campaigns, blog posts etc. Maintaining the speed of the site.
  • SEO – Technical Optimization, Search Engine Marketing and viewership and performance reports.
  • Familiarity with cloud solutions such as Microsoft 365 an advantage
  • Design – Keeping the sites ‘on brand’, to fine tune our brand and image to aid growth and accessibility.
  • Security – Ensuring the website is regularly backed up and secure from threats. 
  • Ensure assets look good across all devices, mobile being the primary visitors to our sites.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.
  • Daily IT management functions for our users

Expected:

  • +2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Website Development experience.
  • IT skills – a solid understanding of primary front-end technologies – HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • WordPress experience.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Website Design experience.
  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills, involving working with a remote team.
  • Confidence and an interest in finding and learning new technologies.
  • Experience using Kadence Blocks.

Desirable:

  • Coding Experience
  • Proven understanding of typography, layout, and consistence.
  • Graphic Design Skills
  • Video Editing Skills
